The Almaden Valley Women's Club (AVWC) announced that community grant applications are now being accepted.
Eligible applicants include educational institutions (elementary, middle and high school) located in the 95120 and 95118 zip code areas, and local non-profit organizations that are tax exempt under IRS 501 (c) 3.
Applications must be completed using AVWC's online application form. The form needed to apply is available at http://www.almadenwomen.org/community_grants.htm.
The form must be completed clearly and concisely and submitted online. An incomplete application will jeopardize the success of your grant request.
Applications must be received no later that November 17, 2012.
Late applications will not be accepted. Awards will be announced by December 10th.

The Almaden Valley Women's Club was organized in 1965. The purpose of the non-profit, incorporated organization is to stimulate, by the active participation of each member, interest in the social, civic, and cultural improvement of our community.

All festival proceeds are donated as community grants to non-profit children's foundations, educational facilities, teen programs and community organizations.

2012 Pre-Sale: Beer & Wine Glasses Available Now - 36th Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival
The Almaden Valley Women’s Club is proud to announce that the 36th Annual Art & Wine Festival wine and beer glasses are now available for purchase at the pre-festival sale price of $5.00.
These one of a kind glasses feature the winning festival art logo designed by local student Timothea Wang of Lord of the Light Art Studio. Our wine and beer glasses are generously sponsored by Union Bank - Blossom Hill and Amato Pizzeria.
Beer and wine will be poured at the event in festival glasses only (13oz Beer pour $6.00 and 6oz Wine pour $6.00). Glasses will be sold for $6.00 at the festival. All proceeds from the sale of the glasses will go to local schools, charities and scholarships for college bound students who reside in our community.

Student Volunteers Needed - 36th Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival
The Almaden Valley Women's Club (AVWC) is looking for student volunteers to assist with the upcoming 36th Annual Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival. The Festival will once again be held at the beautiful Almaden Lake Park on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 10:00AM – 6:00PM. The AVWC relies on the support of volunteers to make this popular community event a continued success.
Community service hours will be awarded to qualifying youth volunteers. Students must be at least 14 years old to participate. A commitment to working a minimum 4 hour shift is required. Students may choose to work the full day to earn up to 12 community service hours. Volunteer assignments are available throughout the day of the festival and include set up, deliveries, clean up and staffing the children’s area (games, crafts and attractions).

Almaden Valley Women’s Club 2012 Scholarship Presentations May 1st
Spring has arrived and with it the annual Scholarship & Grant Awards presentations by the Almaden Valley Women’s Club (AVWC). The May meeting will be held at the Almaden Community Center, Community Room on Tuesday, May 1 starting at 6:30 PM. These awards are made possible through the proceeds of the Almaden Art & Wine Festival, held annually at Almaden Lake Park. This year’s Festival date is September 16th.
The upcoming meeting will showcase the award winning students, non-profit organizations, announcing the Festival logo winner and displaying the winning artwork.
New members welcome! The Club is currently accepting local women to participate. The AVWC was organized in 1965. Club members coordinate and participate in the Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival, make new friends and attend social events and help make a difference in the Almaden Community.
AVWC enjoys special programs at their regular monthly meetings. Recently, our program presenters included Joel DeCuester – “Make your own Luck” ---how to get more done, achieve your goals-be they personal or professional, and create the life you want and “Spring Fling” held at The Studio by Angi. Many fashion experts were on hand for consultations and advice for 2012 Spring fashions. Presentations consisted of Skin health, hair and makeup tips, natural body-wrap techniques and fashion advice.

The Almaden Valley Women's Club is inviting local non-profit and for-profit food vendors to participate in the 2012 Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival.
Due to the outstanding number of vendor applications we receive each year, we strongly recommend any food vendor interested in participating in the festival submit their applications as soon as possible.
The application deadline is June 30th, 2012.
There will be a $50 LATE FEE applied to any applications received after the June 30th deadline.

2012 Logo Design Contest - 36th Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival
The Almaden Valley Women’s Club invites students residing in the 95120 zip codes to participate in the 36th annual Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival Logo Design Contest. The winning logo design will appear on festival merchandise and promotional materials.
To qualify as logo contest entrants, students must be enrolled in a public or private school or a home school program and reside within the 95120 zip code. A maximum of two entries will be accepted from each entrant.
All entries must be received by April 16, 2012. Entries will be picked up from participating schools (check with your art teacher). Alternatively, you can mail your entries to:

AVWC Now Accepting 2012 Scholarship Applications
The Almaden Valley Women’s Club Service and Academic Scholarship Award committee is looking for scholarship applicants.
These scholarships, funded through the Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival, recognize high school students for outstanding leadership in service to their community and neighbors. The AVWC is pleased to announce it has several scholarships to distribute to deserving students this year. The individual scholarships may range from $2,000 - $4,000.
The award is open to graduating high school seniors who will attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university as first time freshmen in the fall of the upcoming year. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and reside within the 95120 zip code. Winners will be selected based on outstanding volunteer experience, academic performance, school activities, letters of recommendation, and personal essay.
Dates for applicant acceptance are February 15, 2012 - April 6, 2012.
